Merry Christmas

We had a good Christmas Day with Chris' mom in town. We did the Horne tradition of fondue on Christmas Eve and even cooked a turkey on Christmas Day. I think we did really good for our first attempt and the new kithen was put to good use!

Fun at Vail

I had a fun girls weekend in Vail this past weekend. It was good to finally get on the slopes and the snow was good on Saturday. We had a nice place to stay in and had lots of fun at the free Bare Naked Ladies concert. We tried to ski the next day at A-Basin, but after two runs we decided it was just too cold.

Getting Closer...

This has been a busy week with the house. We got the doors up and the baseboards are almost finished. We are getting so close! Chris also had a birthday on Monday. I made him a red velvet cake to celebrate. It has been freezing her this week, but looks like it will start to warm up over the weeked.

I Got Bangs!

I got a haircut yesterday and decided to try out some bangs. I thought it was time to mix it up a little bit. I haven't had bangs in 20 years! On Tuesday, we went & saw Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. It was another fun and awesome show. The news had predicted 1-2 inches of snow over the night. However, when we came out of the show about 11:45 PM there was already three inches of snow on the ground and they didn't do any treatment of the roads. We had a wait a while, but a cab finally showed up to take us home. It was a pretty scary ride home, but glad we didn't have to get a hotel room in Downtown Boulder!

Trip Home

Chris and I had a really fun trip home to Trussville for the holidays. We ate way too much food and had way too much dessert during the week. We headed down to Auburn for the game. Emily went to the game with me, which was exciting. We made it to half time before I started running out of "treats". I didn't know how much she could eat...she had Reece Pieces, Skittles, Gummies, a salted pretzel, and a hot dog! Yes, that was all before half time. It was still a great day even though the Tigers didn't win!

More Snow

It kept snowing through out the night and is still snowing today. I am not sure how much snow we will end up with on the ground. Chris might be taking the bus home since the 4Runner is not so great in the snow. I included an updated photo of the kitchen. We have to put up the backsplash and knobs and will be done with that part! However, still alot left to do....but getting closer.

Time to Get the Skis Tuned...

Last weekend we went to the new Warren Miller film with some friends, which always signals that ski season is around the corner. On Sunday, Chris went up near Breckenridge to do some touring in the back country. The snow wasn't great, but the weather was nice and he got some good photos. Josh and some of the other guys did some kite skiing while they were there. I have been working around the house this week while Chris is out of town. It has been in the 70s, but now there is inches of snow falling down. I went to the CU volleyball game tonight to see Melisa since she is their trainer. I picked a good one to go to. CU lost, but put up a friend fight and it was crowded.

Happy Halloween

We had a fun Halloween around Boulder this year. The dogs even got dressed up. Chris and me went as "Flu Busters". It looks pretty intense, but the outfit was actually really cheap and easy to make. Happy Halloween!

SNOW, SNOW, SNOW

We got about two feet of snow at our house between Tuesday and Thursday night. The snow just kept coming, so I have been working from home all week. The good thing is we never lose power. It started to thaw out yesterday afternoon, which made the roads very icy last night and this morning. Chris was not impressed with my driving skills on ice last night, but we made it home!

We have still been busy working around the house, but have found time to relax here and there!

A-Train and Kitchen Updates

Reverend A-Train was in Keystone this past weekend for a wedding. I say Reverend since he became one and actually performed the wedding! It was really fun seeing him again. There is a chance he could be moving back to the States and working for Aspen, so we will keep our fingers crossed! They are trying to work out the Visa issues at the moment. On another note, we had the sink and granite installed today. We are getting close to having it done!!

Some Random Updates

It has been snowing all night and morning! If is going to be freezing out then I like for there to be snow along with it! We are headed up to the High Country tomorrow to see A-Train, so it will be interesting to see what it is like up there! Below are just some photos of the last couple of weeks.

Kitchen Update

The cabinets were installed today! We are getting closer and closer! Overall we are really happy with the cabinets. They accidentally finished the wrong side of one of the island cabinets, but they are going to be fixing within the next couple of weeks. We can't wait to pick out the hardware and lighting!

Floors are Done & War Eagle

The floors are finally finished! They came on Sunday and finished them up. They look great! The cabinets are in Denver and they are being delivered on Wednesday. Tim is bringing over another guy this weekend to put them in with Chris' help.

On Friday night, we went down to visit Kevin and Julie in Denver. Luckily, we were able to spend the night with them since our house was out of control smelly. You couldn't walk into our house without your throat burning and eyes watering. We went to Cherry Creek and had some sushi at Hapa.

On Saturday, we watched the games at Beau Joes with some other Auburn fans. It didn't start off very good, but the ending was great! Carey is from Fairhope and Howard is from Abbeville, so good ole Alabama folks!

Happenings

We've had a fun time recently going to different concerts. Last Sunday, we went to hear Rat Dog at Chautauqua in Boulder. The lead singer is Bob Wier from The Grateful Dead. We set up a "tailgate" outside on the lawn since they usually open up the side doors and you can see in and listen for free. However, the didn't open up the side doors and they were really strict this night. That was a disappointment, but it was still fun.

On Tuesday night, we went to hear Warren Haynes and Longhorne Slim at The Boulder Theater for a taping of etown. It was really neat. They play a few songs and then the hosts does an interview of them. It is a nonprofit organization and the show will be hired on over 250 radio stations in a few weeks. It was well worth the $20! They have a website at etown.org.

On Friday night, we went to another show at Planet Bluegrass in Lyons, CO. We had been anxiously awaiting this night and had so much fun! The act was Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. They are from LA and really put on a show. We spoke to them before the show and they were really nice. Watch the video!

We have also been working on the house this weekend. We are officially living in the basement. We are ready for the floors to be re-done!

Lastly, War Eagle! We were able to watch the game with some other Auburn fans at a local bar. One guy even brought an Auburn shaker!

Fruita & Palisades 2009

We went to Fruita with some friends for the holiday weekend. The weather was great and we did a lot of biking. We camped out in Fruita and did some biking as well as hiking in CO National Monument Park. Then we headed to the Palisades for a night. We rode about 25 miles touring the vinyards and orchards. We had fun and did a few wine tastings along the way. The hotel we stayed in was really nice with wine tastings and a great breakfast. We took a limo to dinner, which was very interesting!

Going, Going, Gone

It has been a while since we last posted. I haven't been very good about taking photos since Chris took the camera with him down to Florida during his work trip. He was glad to be home last weekend, but really tired. We went down to the Boulder Outdoor Cinema, but left early since Chris was falling asleep! We have gotten back in the grove of being back home and meet up with some friends on Thursday. This weekend we worked on the demo for the kitchen. We successfully got it all out and to the dump! The floors are going to be re-finished starting on the 14th and the cabinets will be delivered on the 21st!

Lucerne & Zurich

We headed down to Lucerne for a couple of days and then Zurich on our last night. We had a fun time, but the weather could have been better. It was really cloudy and foggy, so we missed out on seeing some of the big mountains and the Alps in the background of Lake Lucerne. It was a really nice town and interesting to see such old buildings. It was more challenging getting around since must people spoke German and the menus weren't in English, but we survived! The plane ride home went smoothly although we had to taxi for two hours before taking off due to some storms.

Birthday in Switzerland

We didn't have much planned for yesterday, so we took the train down to Interlaken and Grindelwald to explore. We had a fun day and had a nice break in the afternoon. We thought about paragliding, but decided we would just wait until we were back home. We got on the wrong train, so it took a little longer to get back to the Valley. We didn't feel like eating a big dinner so we picked up some snack foods for dinner and we bought some truffles to celebrate my birthday.

Later, we went down to the Horner Pub, which is where all the basejumpers hang out. They all bring their computers with the videos from earlier in the day and talk, talk, talk about basejumping. Kevin's friends are all very nice and fun. Another guy, Boyd, had a birthday the day before me, but didn't celebrate since they jumped the Eiger. Therefore, we had a joint birthday celebration and it got a little out of control...

Bike Tour in Switzerland

For our second full day in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, we rented mountain bikes and toured a view towns via mountain bike trails. I was glad to be on a bike since the tram and train lines have been hectic and crowded. The trails were fun and very scenic. We didn't realize that Julie had never been on a mountain bike before and I don't know if she ever will again.

We started off in Lauterbrunnen and then took the tram up to Grutschalp. We then biked to Murren, which was a lot of up hill. We had a very scenic lunch while we were there. We then rode over to Gimmelwald, which has a population of 120. We stopped for a beer. After that, we rode through Stechelberg and stopped by the Trummelbach Falls. It is one of the only places you can view a waterfall from inside the mountain. It was very cool.

It was another great day. We ended it with a fondue dinner at Hotel Oberland...but I didn't take the camera with me.

Switzerland Update

We have made it to Switzerland! The trip over went very well...no issues with any flights. On the first day, we stopped in Bern on the way to Lauterbrunnen. It was a nice visit in the City, but I was starting to feel pretty tired. We checked into our hotel and then went to watch Kevin and Jeremy do a base jump right outside of town. We really love our hotel room. It has a nice balcony and a great view of the falls in town.

Today, Chris and me took the train up to Jungfraugh. It was really nice and a fun time. We then did a combination of hikes and train rides back to town. It is the peak of tourist season, so it is really busy. The mountains are still similar to Colorado except we don't have cows walking around everywhere. Although we heard they are subsidized by the government for tourism. Still really cool.

Update on Tri for the Cure

I just checked the website and the results have been posted. There ended up being a total of 2980 particpants that finished the race. I am really happy with my results in the swim and bike, but the run could have gone much better. My IT Band was really holding me back, but I am going to get it figured out with Boulder Running Company when I return and Chris said he is going to work with me. I think I have him talked into doing one next year! Below are my results:

My goal was 1:30 and I am disappointed in the run, but really I can't complain too much. It took a lot of mental strength to keep running and I really wanted to stop since I was really in pain. I am glad I kept going!!

Tri for the Cure

Well the big race day has finally arrived! Chris and I headed down to Cherry Creek yesterday to pick up my race packet and spent the night at the Marriott since we had to be up so early. The day went very well and I raced really good. My swim went well and the bike went great. My IT band has been really aggrevating me lately, but I survived the run.

The race was huge...it is the fourth largest in the nation. There were over 3600 participants in the race. They haven't posted the results yet, so I will keep you posted.

Chris was a very supportive husband driving me around and carrying stuff for me. He did a awesome job taking photos.

Last Week Events

This past weekend Christine came to town. It was really nice seeing her. We went out on Pearl Street Friday night and watched some the street acts. On Saturday, we took a quick hike before she headed to Denver. On Saturday, Chris and our carpenter friend Tim put up a house fan. It has really helped keep the house cool at night, which is great! On Sunday, we celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary by going to see the Shakespeare play Much Ado About Nothing as part of the Colorado Shakespeare festival at CU. We have a picnic dinner before the play on "the Green" and they had string music playing. It was really neat and funny! We have also been working hard on the kitchen planning. I think we are going to do the darker color paint on the cabinets with a green back splash. Then a granite countertop and re-staining the floors a darker stain. I also got a really fun early birthday present from my friend Melisa...a hula hoop. She even made it in orange and blue for Auburn!!

NKOTB & Happy Birthday Melissa!

Last night me and my friend Melisa went to the New Kids on the Block concert down in Denver. We had so much fun! I was impressed by how they still had it and the crowd was really into it. The lyrics of their new songs were a little much, but good for entertainment. I had many memories of the time I saw them in the 4th grade at the Civic Center in Birmingham. I had been sick for a few days but wouldn't tell my mom because I didn't want to miss it. At the concert, I was so sick and actually end up missing two weeks of school afterwards from illness! I also remember my cousin Paige screaming and about to pass out when they came out on stage!

Happy Birthday Melissa! I might have picked you up a momento from last night...maybe it will make up for them cancelling the Bham show...:(

Chris took a few days off work this week and worked around the house. He took off the baseboards and put up molding in our offices. We are going to have the floors re-done pretty soon!

This weekend we headed up to Keystone for a Wine Festival with Kevin and Julie. We had a really fun time sampling all the different wines...maybe a little too much fun. We stayed in a nice townhome and had a fun birthday dinner with Amber and Josh.

Happy 4th of July!

I hope everyone has a Happy 4th! It has been a while since our last post. We went on a mountain bike ride a while back and have been a the road bikes alot while I train for the Tri. We also went on the Thursday Night Cruiser ride that takes place in Boulder every week. We went with our neighbor with the "original founders". It was so much fun. We met up at a warehouse and then picked up some more groups as we cruised around Boulder saying "Happy Thursday" to everyone. People in the neighborhood were all out of the driveways waving to us and flashing their porch lights. During the middle of the ride, we stopped at the park to shoot fireworks and have a dance party...only in Boulder! Last night, we went and saw Wilco at Red Rocks. We rode to it on a school bus with some friends. It was fun as well!!

Here and There

Ms. Slaughter has been visiting with us for the past couple of weeks. It has been rainy and a little chilly, but the sun finally came out today and it looks like it is going to stay. During the week, Chris got back on his mountain bike for the first time since the shoulder injury. We took a ride up at Walker Ranch, which has about 160 steps you've got to walk up with your bike. I had my second stroke and stride, but they had to cancel the swim portion due to the weather. However, we still need the run portion.

Random Thoughts and Happenings

Last Friday, our friend Melisa moved into a new house that has all new roommates. They threw a birthday/housewarming party. When the moved in, they found all these random hula hoops in the basement and when Melisa googled the address it appears that a professional hula hooper by the name of "Dizzy Hips". I included a picture of him to give you an idea. If you have some time, you should You Tube him...it is quite interesting. However, by the end of the night we were all hula hooping and I am looking into getting my own professional hoop to burn some calories while I am watching TV.

On Saturday, we went to the Farmers Market then headed down to Castle Rock and camped out at the fairgrounds for the Elephant Rock ride. Chris did 62 miles and I rode the 34 miles course with our friend Becky. We took several photos with her camera, but I am stil waiting on them. We both rode well, which was suprising since we only got three hours of sleep the night before. It was very difficult to get any sleep between the loud campers next door (of course the only ones in the entire place), trains blowing their whistles through town, coyotes yelping, and trucks on the highway. I don't think we will ever be camping out there again. However, it was worth it since the ride was beautiful with Pikes Peak in the background.

This week as been some crazy weather. There have been thunderstorms like crazy including some with hail.

Also, I did my first Stroke and Stride this week. I did pretty decent on the swim for it to be my first time in open water and think I would have done better if I had started further up in the pack. I finished my 750m in a little over 17 minutes. My 5K was a good time for me (32 minutes), but still slow. I have 5 five more to go!

Road to Victory

Chris was in Utah this week for work, but it wasn't too bad since the place where he was staying was beautiful. On Thursday night, I did the girls mountain bike ride at Heil Ranch. Chris came back into town on Friday afternoon. We hit up happy hour and then went to see Neko Case at the free seats at Chautauqua. On Saturday, we ran some errands and went to friends for some burgers. The big event of the weekend took place on Sunday. We did the Road to Victory charity ride. It was really fun and I rode really well. Chris was nice enough to ride with me through out the day. I ponied up and did the 60 mile course that included both hill challenges! All and all, we rode about 70 miles during the day and I felt pretty good afterwards. However, I did fall asleep on the couch for about an hour. We cooked out again for dinner with another friend, Joel. He is staying at his boss' house on the river by Eldorado Springs. It was the coolest house, but I was so tried and hungry, I forgot to take photos.

Kitchen Progress

We are one step closer to having our kitchen re-done. Chris had a contractor put a new support beam into the attic and we took out the closet and walls of our kitchen. We really like it open and the rooms feel so much bigger. We have a lot to do, but we are getting closer.

Memorial Day Weekend

Well it has been a while since our last posting. As many of you know, it has been pretty hectic around the Slaughter houseland lately. Thanks for all your thoughts and support.

This weekend we did a good amount of road biking. On Friday, we went for an 18 mile ride and then Saturday I broke my record by riding 48 miles. We rode the course for the Road to Victory that we will be doing next weekend. I think I convinced Chris enough that I could complete it next week...:) Chris rode another 30 miles on today, but I had to go pick him up when the weather turned bad. I cleaned off all my bikes before the rain hit.

Last night, we headed to the Boulder Creek Festival with some friends. They rode a carnival ride, but they couldn't convince me to get on it. I refused after getting motion sickness earlier in the day from just sharing a lane in the swimming pool with other people. Who knew waves could make you sick feeling in a swimming pool? My tri is going to be interesting.

Clear skies for a day...

Chris and Josh were able to take their first day of paragliding lessons this weekend. There lesson today was cancelled due to another day of bad weather. For the last couple of months, it has been sunny and warm all week end until the weekend arrives. Amber came down on Saturday as well as Julie and Kevin. We went to sushi and then had cupcakes to celebrate Josh's birthday.

Kentucky Derby Fun

This past weekend was filled with rain and it was really chilly outside. However, it has finally past and it will be in the 70s and sunny all this week! The ran didn't stop us from having a fun filled Kentucky Derby party over Melisa's house. She made some really tasty Mint Juleps and I even made a Derby Pie. We all picked a horse and I thought I had a good chance...think again...the odds don't mean anything. Josh was in town with us over the weekend for their lesson on Sunday, but it got postponed due to the weather.

Fun Weekend with Tim

Tim Gregory suprised us Thursday night by purchasing a last minute plane ticket and coming to town for the weekend. It was a really fun weekend and we all had a great time.

Closing Day

It is hard to believe, but ski season is over for the most part. A-Basin and Loveland are the only ones still open. Melisa and me drove up to Vail once I-70 opened up on Saturday morning. There was a good amount of snow in the Front Range that turned into rain. However, we made record time to Silverthorne and did some shopping. Then, we drove on to Vail and were very confused when there wasn't much snow and the roads were dry. And to think the interstate had been closed for 80 miles? We had a fun night eating at the Blue Moose on Saturday night and got up early to hit the slopes. We found some good untouched snow and had a full day of skiing. They had a free concert with O.A.R., which we watched then headed home.

More Easter Photos and Travel Plans

Chris and me have decided it is time to take a trip to Europe. We have a good friend that is going to be in Switzerland with a group for a month and a half to do some base jumping. We have decided to go tour some of Switzerland and visit them for a few days. Our plan is to fly into Zurich and then head to the Bernese Oberland area for a few days and then head to Lucerne and back to Zurich. There is a cool biking loop we want to do through some of the villages. Chris is about to start taking paragliding lessons as well! He hopes to do a solo jump while we are there. If not, then he will have to do a tandum jump like me. Either way it will be so fun! My tri in on 8/2 and we are going to fly out the next day to Switzerland. We plan to come back on the 10th or 11th. Fun!!!

Easter Weekend

We hung around the house this weekend. On Sunday, we got up early and went to the sunrise service at Red Rocks. It was good, but very foggy and cloudy so you couldn't see the sun. They sang Jesus Christ Superstar, which was good and interesting. We got home and went on a hike with Dave and his new roommate Beth. Then, we showered up and headed over to Dave's house for an Easter celebration since none of us have families in the area. It was fun and we had about 12 people with lots and lots of food. It felt like Thanksgiving with all the food. I even made an old school bunny cake like me and Melissa used to make when we were little.

Also, there is some funny photos of Maddie. She was beside herself when Chris and Oakley went to run an errand. She sat and stared out the window until they returned.

Birthday Fun in Denver

This weekend we were supposed to get about a foot of snow on the ground, but it was mainly just some flurries with not too much accumulation. On Friday night, we went down to Denver for our friend Julie's birthday. It was a fun time and we spent the night down there. The next day ate lunch at the famous Cherry Cricket. Chris and me wanted to go there after seeing it on the show Man v. Food. It was a good burger!

Beer, Babes, and Blades

This weekend we headed up to the High Country on Friday after work. Melisa and I did some skiing on Saturday at Keystone then Chris and Josh met up with us for the BBQ Fest. We had more people join us on Saturday night to get ready for our big party the next day. Josh's former boss was nice enough to let us use their vacation home during the weekend, which made it even more fun. On Sunday, we reserved a spot and had a great turn out for our Beer, Babes, and Blades party. It was really fun and I have to admit ski blades are especially fun. There was some really good costumes. Chris even shaved a mustache for it.

Snow! Snow! Snow!

Well after a week of 75 degrees, it had turned to winter again. I made the mistake of going into the office this morning. It took me about three hours to get home, but I was just glad to get home. The main roads going into Boulder were all closed as well as the side streets. I wasn't sure if I was going to make it home or not. There were wrecks everywhere and cars spinning out. We got about a foot and an half of snow at our house today. Chris didn't mind his injured shoulder since I had to do all the shoveling. Please excuse my lounge pants...they are pretty bad. We will be headed up to the High Country tomorrow for a fun weekend and I can't wait to snow in the awesome fresh snow!

Lazy Weekend

Chris has been doing good since his knee surgery a couple of years ago, but the injury bug has bitten again. He sustained a separated shoulder the other week while skiing at A-Basin. I was out of town, but our good friends Josh and Amber took good care of him...:) He is doing better and able to get on the trainer. We are hoping he will be back on the road in about 4 weeks have be able to ride in his 60 mile race he has signed up for in May. We took it easy this weekend and hung around the house, which was fun because it was so nice and warm outside. We bathed the dogs, but I did feel sorry for them because the water was COLD! Chris also smoked some dinner during the afternoon. Our friends Melissa and Brian came over to eat with us and it was yummy!

Trip to Florida

I left on Friday for a trip down South. I flew into Birmingham and spent the night there on Friday. We headed to Destin on Saturday and it rained and rained and rained the entire way there. We stopped in Montgomery to visit Rushie, which was a good time. We had fun at the beach, but it rained and was a little chilly while I was there. My sister and I spent a lot of time finishing up the Twilight series and I can finally say that I am now done. I flew back home yesterday and it is pretty warm here in Boulder as well.

Leadville Ski Jorying Weekend

I headed up to Leadville on Saturday with our friends Dave and Rye. It was quite the adventure and very entertaining to watch. We also hung out in the local bar, which was interesting to say the least. The bathroom sink was located on the outside out the bathroom next to the pool table? However, it is hard to beat $2 PBR!The hotel wasn't bad, but the mattress springs were awful so none of us really slept very well. On Sunday, we skied at Beaver Creek. It was fun, but they REALLY need some snow.

Back to Boulder...

It has been hard getting back to the swing of things since our return to Boulder. I have been feeling sick since Tuesday due to a lack of sleep and the crazy temperature changes. However, I am starting to feel better. On Tuesday, Chris and I went to the Banff Film Festival at the Boulder Theater. It was fun, but not as good as years past. On Thursday night, we drove down to Denver to see Andrew Bird at The Ogden. We had a great time and it was one of the best concerts we have ever been to.

CANCUN!!

Chris and I left for Cancun this past Thursday and got back late on Sunday night. We had so much fun and didn't want to come home. This was the "Club Trip" for Chris' work. It was cloudy and raining on Friday, but we got so much sun on Saturday. We said at the Cancun Palace, which is an all inclusive resort. I am not sure what they paid, but we got our money's worth. The travel day on Sunday was long since we had to connect in Houston. It was a little stressful since we had less than an hour to go through customs and back to the ticket office to go back through security since we had to change airlines...which was on the other side of the airport. However, we did sit First Class on the flight, which was really nice!

An Eventful Weekend

Chris and I drove up to Keystone on Friday night. Ourfriends left us the keys to their house while they are in France. There was still alot of traffic, but not too bad. We got up early Saturday and met some friends in Breckenridge for skiing. They really needed some snow up there. It was fun, but it turned pretty cold in the afternoon. On Sunday, we got up early to go skiing at A-Basin. We were so proud of ourselves when we got to the parking lot at 7:55 AM. However, we somehow forgot Chris' ski bag back at the house, which wouldn't be some bad. However, I put my bag back in the car and we shut the door...with the keys inside....and it was locked. We had to call a locksmith, who arrived 45 minutes later to save the day. I already had plans to leave early, so we decided the ski gods were trying to tell us we didn't need to ski today. We drove back to Boulder, which ended up being nice. Chris did about a 30 mile bike ride since it was sunny out and I went to a hockey game with my friend, Melisa. It was ladies day, so we got out ticket, a slice a pizza, and a glass of wine for $11!

Another Ski Weekend

On Friday, Chris and I went to the Boulder Cork for a steak and a really good dessert called Mud Pie. Ultimate told him to take me to a nice dinner on the corporate card! On Saturday, we got up at 5:20 AM and went to Vail for the day. It was fun, but Chris changed the setting on his bindings. We figured out that maybe it shouldn't have been moved. We spent the night in Keystone and our friend Brian crashed with us. We all met up with our friends Josh and Amber for some Mexican food. On Sunday, we went to Keystone. They really need some snow, which I think happened today. It got really busy, so we headed back to Boulder.

Back in the Saddle

It has been so sunny and warm out here this week. Chris and me took our road bikes out yesterday for a spin. I have improved dramatically since the last time I was on it, which I think can be contributed to all my mountain biking this past summer. I am feeling better on the bike, but I don't think I will ever like all the cars driving by.

I also bought a face brush last night. I have been saving up since my birthday for this splurge and I can't wait to use it! I also got the third book for the Twilight series. I felt dorky considering I had to go to the Young Adult section to get it. However, the 50 year old man helping us has read the entire series as well. He let us know that the last book has one of the best action scene that has ever been written in fantasy literature....interesting....

Snowshoeing in RMNP

Chris was sick all week. He went to the doctor on Thursday and was told it was a viral infection that has been going around. Hopefully he will be feeling better soon and I won't get it. On Saturday, we went with our friend Melisa snowshoeing in RMNP. We had a really fun time. The highlight was sliding down the side of the mountain!

Birthday Fun & Another Trip to the Mountains

On Friday night, we did a bar crawl down in Louisville for our friend Dave's 28th birthday. There is some really nice places and some that are a great deal. We got PBRs for $14.00 and 9 Bud Lights for $12.00! On Saturday, we all met up for a day of skiing at Keystone. Traffic was bad, so we only got to ski a half day. There was fresh snow, which was nice. We were pretty tired at the end of the day and had a nice night at our friend Josh and Amber's house. On Sunday, we had a full day of skiing at Breckenridge. We met up with my college friend, Mike Caudill, which was really fun. Traffic was bad on the way home and it took us about 3 1/2 hours. There wasn't much snow until we got near home and there had been a couple of inches.

Trip to Loveland

Chris was in Florida this week for work, but came back on Friday night. He was really tried, but we met some friends out for dinner. On Saturday, we did some things around town and took the dogs for a long walk since it was really warm and sunny outside. We went to bed early and got up about 5:45 AM on Sunday to head up to Loveland to go skiing. Chris was taking a tele clinic and I skied on my own. It was really sunny, but windy and there hasn't been any fresh snow in a while. However, it was a really fun time!

Happenings This Week

On Thursday, we went to the Walnut Brewery for a free pint of the thier latest beer to be put on tap. It was a good time and our friend Bridgette won a grill set since it was her 50th visit! On Saturday, we went skiing at Beaver Creek with our friends Josh and Amber. The snow was great and my latest thing is skiing trees, which is really fun. I used my new skies for the first time, which are awesome. They are so much faster!! We went to The Snake for dinner and stayed in Keystone with our friends Dave and Rye. On Saturday, Chris went to a tele clinic at Loveland while I skied A-Basin with Dave and Rye. We had a really fun day in the Montazuma Bowl, but then it turned extremely windy and the lighting was bad, so we called it a day. We have turned into snow snobs!

Crazy Week & Tubing Fun!

Well, Chris woke up Thursday throwing up and feeling awful. He thinks it was the spicy meatloaf he ate the night before and was feeling better on Friday. However, on Friday my mom started throwing up and was in bed all day. She was fine until we went into the "Mint Room" during the Celestial Seasoning tour. We knew it was bad when she didn't even get out of bed to see Alabama being embarrassed by Utah. Mom hung around the house on Friday and Saturday. On Saturday, the rest of us went to the Leaning Tree Museum and ate some lunch at Snarfs. On Saturday, everybody was feeling better so we went tubing at Keystone. We had a really fun day! However, Dad's calves had been hurting since he landed on Thursday in Denver. We wanted to make sure there wasn't a blood clot before he got back on the plane, so we went to the Boulder Community Hospital on Sunday night. We were there about three hours, but the staff was so nice and funny. Luckily, there wasn't any blood clots and they are safely back at home!

Happy New Year

Chris and me spent New Year's Eve with some friends eating dinner and then went to hear a bluegrass band. Chris wasn't feeling too good and the next day we figured out that he had food poisioning. I went to the airport and picked up my parents on Thursday morning. We did some things around town and watched football on TV.

Today my parents and me did a tour of Celestial Seasoning and sampled some teas. It was fun until we went into the Mint Room and my mom started feeling sick. We brought her home and she has been in bed ever since. However, now Chris is feeling much better. Dad and me at lunch at The Sink, which is like the Toomer's Corner of CU. Then we walked around the campus of CU.

Tomorrow we are supposed to be going to Keystone, but we will see how everybody is feeling!
